My grandson shot his first turkey 4/7/07; it weighed in at 21 1/2 lbs.; beard was 9 1/2" long; 7/8" spurs.  The turkey was about 9 yds. away when he shot it - you'll notice from the pictures, it's bigger than he is!!

Great pic sounds like you have got a good hunting partner.Thats also a great job as young as he is, to be able to set still
  with a big gobbler 9 yrds thats tough for me to do!!TELL HIM CONGRADULATIONS
