Last year.........

Guess what? He called this morning and said that 2 coyotes attacked his daughters dog last night and almost killed it,it weighed close to 100 pounds.they had to take it to the vet and have a tube inserted into its throat because it was so savagely attacked by 2 coyotes.they saw the coyotes with the dog down.

His neighbor also heard a fawn screaming and went to investigate on his 4-wheeler. he found the fawn and picked it up because it was screaming so badly.the coyotes had disembowled it.

so i got us permission on 3 farms that join this morning for whatever we want to trap. they anted just the coyotes gone but i told them we wouldnt just trap the coyotes, i wanted unlimited permission on all 3 places for all furbearers for both of us or they could find someone else, that we wouldnt do it with our hands tied.

He called back and its a go, we got unlimited permission to trap all 3 farms.

Isnt it funny how people want to "protect" the animals until their carnage strikes too close to home?

Best part is, theyre withij 10 miles of home.

Sorry to hear about the problems, but that is what predators do.  Why chase a deer when a dog doesn't run as fast.  It does sound like it will work out well for you since you now have additional places to trap.

Sometimes it takes a little reality to wake people up.

Born and raised in the southern highlands of Appalachia, I'm just an ol' country boy who enjoys calling coyotes... nothing more, nothing less.

I wish everyone who wants to throw a dog, usually a young dog out as a decoy dog would read posts like this. I just don't think people realize what a dangerous thing this is.

And as our countryside gets invaded more & more by city dwellers they are gonna find out exactly why trappers do what they do. And the worst part is their kids will see this 1st hand now & it's not gonna be with "someone elses pet". It's gonna be their own. Sure would be nice to have a course taught in school about these things.

Way to go cathryn.  I like the part where it is on your terms :laf:.  They may look down on us trappers but just like your situation time will help.
