Bills Custom Calls

It has been tough finding any turkey sign this spring,so I crossed some property I am not allowed to hunt anymore but I am allowed to be on it as long as I don't have a gun go figure.Standing on the top of the ridge looking down into the valley of woods,I hear a hen cluck a couple times, seen one fly down and shortly after that heard another fly down, and still hearing a few clucks off in the distance. No gobbles at all,as I stood quietly for about a half an hour. Then decided I would walk a little further to my right just looking at different things along the field edge when there he stood a nice tom I didn't want to spook him,but that only lasted about 30 seconds as he flew off,so no pics. I could still hear that hen clucking every now and then, just wondering if it is kinda early for them to be very vocal yet.Not wanting to spook anymore birds I  turned and walked the other way and about 20 minutes later I heard a gobble back towards where the tom flew into.I just stopped and listened about 10 more minutes and nothing more to be heard, but I do know where Kurtis and I will be set up next Saturday morning

Good luck to Kurtis and you Bill.  I'll shy away from giving advice on them birds even though I came in third in the contest last year , somehow I feel I still don't have the experience required to hand out good advice. :laf: :laf:

Get 'em located is one part of the puzzle.  But get 'em in your hand is a wee more difficult sometimes.   :eyebrownod:

I agree Semp
This is my third spring hunting Turkey and will be the 2nd one for Kurtis he missed last year for some reason no interest. This year he asked me If we were going and he seems to be a little more excited about getting out in the bush so I will be doing my best to put a turkey in front of his gun and helping him find his mark so he can draw first blood of a lifetime

Good luck Bill. Wish you all the best of luck. The birds down here have been gobbeling good here for a few weeks. I cant wait till Sat. I know its hard to do but try not to call to much and just be patient. He will come and Kurtis will kill! :yoyo:

Go afield with a good attitude, with respect for the wildlife you hunt and for the forest and fields in which you walk. Immerse yourself in the outdoor experience. It will cleanse your soul and make you a better person. (Fred Bear)
