I see nests like that in groups along the river up here, the birds making them are some sort of crane.
Not really sure about yours, but it could be cranes if they're near water.  :wo:

No water close to here these are on top of a hill no lakes, or rivers close just a few small farm ponds

Bill those nests belong to a foo bird, we have them around here too. A couple of years ago, me, and a couple of buddies came across a foo nest, and while we were looking up at it, the foo bird crapped on all three of us. Well before I could say anything, my buddies wiped the crap off and died almost immediately.  I just kept that foo crap on till it wore off, and I was fine. What saved me was something my grandad used to say to me as a child.......

" If the foo shits, wear it "   :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono:

Oh man, I couldn't help myself
I try to have a good outlook on life, but some idiot keeps standing up and blocking my view !

How far up were they Bill and how big were they. They might be eagle nests

I beleive the Blue Herron builds nest's like that and they nest in colonys.
I say what I think not think what I say.

DirtyDog

Glen....I think owls nest in tree holes and cubby's and stuff.

I kinda think it looks like blue heron also, but the lack of water has me a bit puzzled.  :wo:

Those nests were about 35 ft or better off the ground. The nest on the right is bigger then the other
I would say the bigger one you could put 2 basketballs in it and the other one is somewhat smaller.

Now that the Blue Heron has been brought up I remember seeing one around here a time or 3

Thanks

Hawks Feather

They resemble Heron nests and they do nest in colonies.  Eagle nests are usually larger and they add layers on each year.  Eagles also are not very happy to have another eagle in the area.

Only if I was closer Bill. I've been known to shinny up a few trees.  :laf:
I'm quite sure they're pterodactyl though.

What kinda tree is that?

The Great Blue Heron is noted for nesting in Sycamore trees as the smooth early bark won't enable raccoons the climb to their nest.
There is/was ()  a large aviary of herons along the Conotton Creek at Conotton.

canine

I'd guess Red Tail Hawk. I have seen them nest pretty close together like that when a good food source is close.
