I mounted a speed bead on my shotgun today.

Does that Speed Bead give you the ability to center your pattern?

Todd Rahm

Looks good! How's it perform and is it cost effective?

Rich

Well guys, the speed bead just arrived today. I have the red dot roughly aligned but I haven't made it out for final sight in and more precise adjustments. It should help me get on target faster, and allow precise windage & elevation adjustments. Cal Taylor uses his on a Benelli for killing coyotes, and he highly recommends the speed bead. I hope to have some photos of patterns and more information as to how well this sight preforms. I really like the low profile of this sight, and I can slide it right in to my regular shotgun case. The light weight and low profile of this thing is absolutely super. I was a bit worried when I took on the installation myself. Beretta recommends that a gunsmith install them.

Never heard of it. So it 's actually a lazer?
I'm gonna have to, I say I'm gonna have to Google this thing.

It is not a laser, it is a red dot, Jim.

Rich,  I put a EOtech XPS on my SBE and I really like it.  It is a halographic sight.  Target acquisition is very fast, faster than the 1x3 scope I was using.  I looked at the Burris Speed Bead before I bought it but wanted something I could use on my AR also so I went with the EOtech.  The down side was that I had to add a removeable cheek riser pad to my stock because the EOtech sits high.

I've heard nothing but good things about the Speed Bead.   For coyotes and turkey hunting, it should work great.

Rich

Semp,
Your Eoteck  was a good choice for your particular needs. I had thought about mounting a Weaver K2.5 scope on my shotgun, but didn't like the thought of the extra weight, and the fact that I would have had to buy a long scoped rifle case for this rig. My shotgun with speed bead installed slips right in to my regular shotgun case.

Thanks nasty
They need a new webmaster, all of the installation guide links bottomed out on a 404 error page :laf:
Looks like that puppy is installed directly between your receiver and the stock which is pretty slick.

Give us a picture looking through it Rich. You feeble enough to pull that off? :laf:

I don't own one but have played around with them some, slick little outfits. Great snap shooting aid.

Semp, yes... they have elevation / windage adjustments.

Here is a shot of the EOtech.    The actual reticle is much bigger than shown.

EOtech has a sight simulator that you can play around with.      http://www.eotech-inc.com/

Rich, I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that the money your parents gave you for singing lessons was pocketed and you bought this with it. :laf: :laf:

That should work.  But maybe with just a little more tweaking........
