Overnight.  Killer good.

Pic below is with flash before I stirred it.  Dash of medium  chili powder, whole onion chopped small, dash of oregano, kosher salt, smoked pork jowl chunks.  Some savory non-sweet corn bread would do it good so may cook a batch to eat with this.

I'm sure it will taste as good as it looks.  Did you smoke the jowls or did you buy them already smoked?
When they come for mine they better bring theirs

Noticed the smoked jowls in a store last week, not something I see in stores normally.  Instantly I knew that this was fate or destiny or something, so grabbed a chunk with a plan in mind.  The smoked pork really adds a nuance of flavor I can't get from anything else.  Classic poor folks' food from the south, and I loved the way my mom made it in a big ol scarred up simmering pot.

Gotta butcher a couple hogs right away and this could be something to do.  Looks good enough to eat.
