Take a deep breath, count to ten, and scroll to the bottom of the front page of the forums.

This is getting SCARY when the owner of the site can't remember (or have access to the controls to get) his password.  Jim, I know on some sites a moderator can change a password for a member.  If I figure out how to do that there I will try to help you out.     :laugh2:

Just kidding.  I think.

I go through the error logs every other day, and it amazes me how many times a day, then a week, a person will try to log on using the wrong password, then give up and try all over again the next day.

I began to wonder if anyone knew about the password retrieval link.

Don't know if anyone else was having the same problem as me but my problem was when I clicked on FinsandFur.net Forums the screen came up with my user name and password already installed as I set it that way,  but just recently I was not logged in so when I clicked on Login it would give me the message wrong Password but I could click on login again and it would log me in. The lost Password at the bottom of the screen was not showing on my computer, only shows when you are logged out. Some how the program was thinking I was logged in but with the wrong pass word, don't know if this makes any sense to you or not. I changed my Password again and it seems to be working now. CC

Thats an issue with your browser, either not retaining the data file (cookie) that holds this information, or completely clearing it.

Jim,

You mean if I have my browser set to clear all cookies when I quit it will not keep the information?    :shck:   I know that it did when I had it set that way a couple of years back.

Jerry

FinsnFur

Yeah that would keep it from retaining the information,  :laf:
Even a couple years ago it would have.

Another option is Authenticated Sessions, which is what being logged into the forums is considered.

Jim is there a way to stay logged in and also delete cookies after each session? cc

FinsnFur

No, the cookie is what keeps you logged in, so that as you navigate from thread to thread it knows what to show you as read or unread, etc.

Thanks Jim, I'm still not sure what was causing my problem but I did check and I had several user names and passwords, I deleted them out of the system and now should only have one. cc
