One of my grandsons placed third in WA state high school javelin and played some small college quarterback before deciding to move on with life rather than play ball. R is home from college working in a family business for the summer. As his crew finished for the day on a job at hillside mansion, the slightly drunk homeowner was throwing a ball for his dog to fetch. He tossed the ball to grandson R and told him to throw it as far as he could. R paused, shrugged, and threw the ball high across the pasture below and way into the woods farther down the hillside.
The homeowner exclaimed and asked, “Did you play baseball, or quarterback!?â€
“Yes,†said R as the rest of the crew laughed. We got R to tell his version of this story the other evening at a family barbecue.
That is great story and it put a smile on my face.
