Seeing as there seems to be a lot of fellows on the board who have military service in their resume' I'd like to know if you ever had the opportunity to see or use one of these.

Not one like that, did use one we called a Yukon stove, I think the nomenclature was M-1950 Stove. Have one similar now that I use with my Arctic Oven.
