Redington Reels went way above and beyond to fix a problem for me. They sent the wrong size spare spool on my first order, and then instead of merely sending the right item with no shipping cost to me, they sent me a whole reel sized to match the spool they had already sent. Now I have a new fly reel with an extra spool!

I think a lot of the sporting goods companies are getting better at their customer service. With the internet one service problem could mean that in just a matter of minutes thousands of potential customers know about it.
I bought a 4wt Redington fly Rod years ago and my buddies dog stepped on the tip and busted it clean off. Redington replaced the entire rod, no questions asked. They're service sounds like it hasn't changed any over the years...that's good to know.
