Man that looks good.  Your little video is going to drive me into heading to our local fish and chips place for lunch today, though their fish doesn't look anywhere near as good as yours!

Yah were shut down for the holidays until the 3rd. I've been having the time of my life with the new Clam Kenia pro ice shanty.
I've been getting a little too caught up in things I think. I haven't paid any bills done laundry or showered for a few days now. But hey I'm on vacation and I'm catching some nice fish LOL

Its been a pretty good week. Im gonna hate going back to work.

Here's yesterday's haul

A buddy was down for the New Year weekend to do some fishing and celebrating. Hes got a chocolate lab he brought with.
The lab was out touring the ice and next thing we know hes off on the shoreline wrestling and shaking something. Pretty  soon he let go of it and this big ole Muskrat flopped from his jaws.

Shaped like a joke they are bluegills and/or similar species that my family calls sunfish.  They bite well on flies, worms, jigs, etc. and are tasty on the plate.  My dad used them as live bait on his trotlines for BIG catfish way back when.  Like ring perch, bullhead catfish and pink salmon, God made them special for kid fishing, and I'm still a kid.  On a second look those look more like one of the sunfish/sunperch varieties than they look like bluegill but I'm way out of my area of expertise.  :wo:

Jim,

Do you have the technique figured out for getting the y-bones out of those Northern.  I have tried, but always end up spitting out bones.  :argh:

We call them Bluegills down here too Clyde. All of them. Unless they are so orange they stand out to earn the sunfish label...they get called Bluegills.

I've done it Pat...but I'm far from having it figured out.  :madd: Luckily these were all my buddies Pikes so I didnt have to clean them. :laf: The bluegill fishing kinda sucked that day so he set out a bunch of tip ups. Didnt take long to figure out why the bluegills werent around :nono:
