I called this one to within about 60 yards on a creek bank when I shot him. Of course, he rolls down the 12 ft bank in to the creek.  I almost never got him out of the water and then both of us back up the bank. He weighed 38 pounds.  By the time I finally made the 700 yard drag back to the truck he was weighing about 338 pounds.

Nice  :yoyo: Good thing you didn't go in the water with him.  :whew:
I've been trying to get that last turkey with the crossbow before the year ends. Doesn't look good for the home team, but that's ok, next week it will be time to get after the coyotes.

Man that's a big, fat coyote!  What's he been eating?

You did some good hunting and good shooting.

I've read that eastern coyotes are a hybrid mix of coyote and gray wolf.   For whatever reason, they tend to be bigger than their western desert cousins.  As for what he's been eating, I don't know for sure.  Deer fawns, rabbits, mice, turkeys, birds, dead fish, carrion...... whatever he can catch.  They seem to like persimmons quite a bit too.

Nice coyote Johnny! They do get heavier the farther from the truck you get.

Good job Johnny. :highclap: :highclap:
It's never a bad idea to wash the fresh blood off the hide for easier fur put up.
I say what I think not think what I say.

That scope is a Vortex 2-7x35 on a Burris PEPR mount.

Sweet, so I am assuming it works well in your wooded areas.
