Well since we don't have a "Not So BIG Big Game" Forum I'll just post this in here. :laf: :laf:
Yesterday evening @ 4:40 this little feller decided to check out the feeder. Little did he know I was standing in the brush 75yds from him. He took a 240gr Cheap Shot from my 50cal Winchester ML thru the right shoulder completely disabling that leg & on thru the lung area. The bullet took out the area where the lungs attach to each other & made a wonderful mess of things in there. He went about 70yds & piled up. He aint a bigun but by golly he'll almost finish filling the freezer. :biggrincamo:

Glen,
Nice job on the venison! I wasn't out yesterday, but glad to see that you were.
Jerry
You missed a good day Jerry!! The last two days were perfect for deer hunting for me. :yoyo: :yoyo:
Way to go Glen! Much better taking him with the ML than the truck don't you agree. He'll be a good eater for sure.
WTG Glen!!! I passed on a few then kinda ran out of time.....One more doe season and we are done by the end of the month.
I may take one more doe to top off the freezer then its coyotes all the way...
:laf: You bet it is Dave!! :eyebrownod: :eyebrownod:
I passed deer the whole week of gun season 2 weeks ago too Al. I just got tired of waiting on the big one this year & took this little feller instead. Maybe some day I'll get a shot at a big one. Til then I'll just eat & be happy about it. I still have 4 days of ML here plus our archery ends Feb 7th. I only have one doe tag left for the year so I'm gonna try to donate to the Farmers Feeding the Hungry program.
I also heard on the radio Ohio deer hunters have donated 95,000lbs of venison to this program. I hope to add another 50lbs or so. :yoyo:
Glen, I'm going to create a not so big game forum and move this topic into it for you. I mean that thing is measly :rolleye:
Ok.....I'm kidding and you know it.
Plus it sounds like you were meat hunting and not trophy hunting so there, you got what you wanted and it'll taste a whole lot better then 300lb er.
Kudos! :yoyo:
The ones with small racks eat better.
:roflmao: @ the measly forum!! I was just deer hunting & with the gun seasons winding down I really needed to smoke a deer with those Cheap Shots to see how well they would work. Kinda like a 2fer.
Thanks FOs!! I'm gonna share this one with my Sister & BIL. :yoyo:
Congrats on the deer, HaMeR! :congrats:
Okay HaMeR, I'm pissed :readthis: Where is the pic of the gun :noway:. Nice looking deer and if anyone and I mean anyone gives you static send them my way :iroll:. You ever notice that trophy hunters are just a tad different than any other predator . When I find a dead deer in the bush all the other predators and scavengers take everything except .................................................. the horns .
I was not meaning I was trophy hunting.......I passed does and bucks.
I killed a couple of little ones early in the season and been looking for another big doe.......I was hunting pounds not points. :laf:
At least the damn picture was date stamped!! :rolleye:
:roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: I'll get a pic of the Winchester if you want. But I gotta warn ya ahead of time it aint no patch & ball gun. It's a high powered ML!! :yoyo: :yoyo:
I gotcha Al. I wanted one of them 160 class lb does that are running around here too. I'll get my last tag when I get paid & keep trying probably. :yoyo:
Congradulations Glen!! :congrats: :congrats: You can't eat the horns anyway. :nono:
:yoyo: Congrat's on the full freezer Glen! :eyebrow: you can always make some pens outta them horns!
Well HaMer - I'll just tell ya ... by golly I'm glad ya just about finished filling the freezer ... :roflmao:
Congrats to ya dude ... :eyebrownod: :yoyo: :eyebrownod:
WTG Glen ! I'd be happy with that buck for sure, its bigger than the buck I didnt get
Thanks guys!!
The antlers had too much curve in them to even get a pen out of. I won't be doing anything with them. I didn't even cut them off. Maybe the butcher shop can sell em & make an extra $5. :laf:
Congrats HaMeR its a good looking deer. :yoyo: :yoyo: :yoyo:

Word, word and word :laf: :laf:
:laf: That reminds me. I really need to get that gun out of the truck & clean it now. :laf:
WTG HaMer! :thumb2:
So glad you're getting out there so I don't have to. :iroll:
Didn't even get one tag this year because of working so much. :loco:
Hey! Have you tried calling any 'coons?
Thanks vv. No coon calling yet. I'm thinking about going out tomorrow AM over here in Midvale where I deer hunt. We found a 1/2 dozen likely den trees to call. I'm gonna take my Brother since he has the keys to the 4 wheeler garage & knows where they are all at. :eyebrownod: :eyebrownod:
Here ya go Barry!!
Winchester APEX 50cal inline with a 209 lighter doing the deed for 90grs of fffg 777 powder which in turn begins the spiralling forward momentum of the 240gr all lead Cheap Shot HP bullet encased in a plastic sabot. :whew: :eyebrownod: :eyebrownod:

Thank you. That's quite a looking weapon you have. I'm kinda spooked at FFF powder in my old girls but I'd like to chrony F to FFF just to see the difference. Your sighting system may be what I need to go to shortly :laf: :laf:
:laf: @ the sighting system!! I was just getting there too. :eyebrownod: That is a Bushnell Banner Dusk to Dawn 3-9x40 shotgun scope. I got the extra power for range work & I hope to get it out on groundhogs someday. That would be a cool video. :yoyo: I carry it on 3-4x tho for deer. I would also like to add that at the range I shot that deer I heard the resounding solid THUMP of impact. I was impressed with that. Depending how much powder you're using now the fffg would be OK in your rigs IF you adjusted accordingly. I don't remember anymore but it was something like 80grs (<example) of fffg was 25% more by volume than 80grs of fg. So the ffg would fall in around the 12 1/2% range. PLEASE DO NOT quote me on this tho. :nono:
I wish I could find the range target from load development for these bullets. It had two 3 shot groups of 1 1/2" at 100yds. They shot as good as the expensive copper jacketed poly tipped bullets for a fraction of their price.
Nice job Glen. :yoyo: :congrats:
Yep, that outfit looks like it'd get the job done.
Congrats
Thanks Scott. It'll definitely do the deed. As long as I'm up to it of course. :laf: :laf:
