Title: Hoar frost along the river

Chilliwack River this early afternoon, hoar frost along the river from whitewater mist and heavier humidity. In winter, the sun never shines on this stretch of river so ice and snow don't melt much.  Mountains out of view on the right side of the pic shade this area from the low angle winter sun, but the south facing slopes on the left side of the river get sun and are much warmer.

I took a rifle along but heavy rains since my last trip up there washed out the road too much for me to get up on the ridge where I played cat and mouse with the big footed buck a few weeks ago.  I had a pick and shovel along and could have worked over the bad patch of road and made it up but decided not to strain myself nor the vehicle.  A layer of ice covered the erosion ditches or the 4x4 Zuki would have eased right up them.  There was high chance of sliding into a deep ditch and bending metal or worse, not worth it for me today.
