Anyone use ?  I've always been a big fan of Spyder Wire but been told this Fireline is much better and doesnt eat up your eyelets as bad.  Lately I've been using some cheap old monofilament I got at the hardware store but ifn I'm goin for them musky I need some good stuff.

I got me a couple filler spools and going to be givin it the workout soon, just wondering if and how others have done with it.

Thanks

No but now I'm curious. I've been a Spider Wire die hard ever since it came out. I swear by the stuff. But your right it does it up your end eyelet.

I've been heating up the ends of my new rods, which loosens the glue and removing the top eyelet and replacing them with a hardened Teflon eye. :yoyo:

Shhhh dont tell the world but... them carp love that stuff, you moisten the shredded wheat and make it into balls, dose them with imitation vanillia.  Better than any store bought stuff and cheap.

I use Fire line on a couple of my poles. I am happy with it, although I can't compare it to anything other than mono.  I haven't noticed any wear on the eye's.

I've never tried spiderwire.

Got to admit its pretty tough stuff, but compared to regular mono the sensitivity isnt there.  Pulled in them carp pretty darn good.  Never let them run the drag, just reeled em right in.

FinsnFur

The sensitivity isnt in the Spider Wire?
I'm thinking just the opposite. I feel like I can feel every weed, and the actual strikes are lot more intense. Spider Wire dont stretch, mono does....so you'd naturally lose some sensitivity there with the mono.

Mainly when they hit the bait it just feels funny, could be from the no stretch   :wo:  The last spider wire I used felt differ from this fireline.

I do not use it on fish like trout cause they can see it. I do use it when trolling or fishing agressivly. When fishing a slow go presentation I prefer mono so I can have time to get my slow ass awake and set the hook and so the fish wont see the line.
Just my two cents and I like it better than spiderwire just cause of the way it used to be a problem to tie a knot with spider wire but I think they have fixed that by fusing the strands togeather. It is great for ice fishing if ya learn to tie the right knot and put on a mono leader on it cause you can see the line better on a background of snow and ice. :eyebrownod:
I do not fish much as I used too but I have had problems with braided lines fishing for winter Steelhead like line freezing and the fish spooking at the sight of the stuff and ice will cut this line up if your casting a lot in cold weather.
But I am just an idiot that froze the bridge of his nose twice fishing and got blown over in a storm with just me and a real hot lantern in the ice shannty......... :roflmao: :roflmao:

Isn't the firewire part mono? I guess I dont know....never used it. Been hooked on this Spider Wire too long.

I've never had any trouble tying knots but I do spit on it pretty good when cinching em down. I can tell you this...when snagged, I've broken reels, eyes, and cut my hands, but I've never lost a lure due to the line or the knot breaking.

It is tough stuff but it is called fire line and it is a braid and if you scar it and weeken one or more strands it will weeken pretty quick. Ice can really do a number on it but my fishing has been put behind the yote hunting for quite some time they may have solved that one by now.

Hey Guys, i thought i would add on the conversation about Fireline. I use it on my spinning outfits for bass fishing. It really lasts a long time and is very strong. The color will start to fade after extensive use but seems to hold its thrength. It does not seem to have a lot of memory either. One tip that I can give you is after it seems to get old cut your lure off and hold your tag line, then dip your line in the water behind your boat while moving to empty your spool. Then take your tag end of the line that you have been using and tie it to your spool and reel in the excess. This way you are using whats been in your spool the whole time.
The only negative that i can think of is I've noticed that over time without much usage its like it gets loose on the spool and will just spin on the spool. You have to pull all the line off and reel it back up tightly in the spool and your good to go..
Overall I rate it a 9, but I don't recommend for clear water, I would then use some flourocarbon.
Good Luck

I use Power-pro braided line and LOVE it. Have used Spider wire and fire-line in the past as well as Stren superbraid with Kevlar, and Power-pro beats them all hands down. Very little color bleed (like fireline), no damage to eyelets (like spiderwire). Just tough as nails and fairly good at not holding line memory. Occasionally the first cast or two of the year after sitting all winter may show a little memory but rarely, and not nearly as bad as Flourocarbon and monofilament lines.

Huntinbull,
You are only an hour from some awesome steelhead fishing right now!......Any stream east of the rocky river hold some great fishing. Grand river one of my favorites..... :yoyo: :yoyo:
