Title: Shot my first IDPA match
Post by: Roundman on March 01, 2014, 09:29:05 PM
After hearing the rules, commands, and point system....I just wanted to make it through without accidentally shooting someone.  I guess I did ok for the most part. Nobody had to call me out on any major mistakes. I shot a couple stages clean and let a couple stages get away from me.  The timer must have been broken though because one stage felt like it only took me ten seconds and the timer said twenty four.  My buddy took a video of me shooting and damn I'm slow.

WTG!!  Lot's of fun isn't it!!  You will improve quickly!  You can practice most of the skills required between matches.  Work on magazine changes and draws from the holster with an empty gun.  Hope you enjoyed yourself!!

Jim, I had a blast. It's hard to believe that you would have that much adrenaline shooting paper targets. On the first stage the range master could have been standing on my back shouting instructions and I'm not for sure it would have done any good. I found myself fixed on the targets and front sight.

He posted the video on FB and I can't figure out how to share it.

For some reason the video part of our little addon that lets us post videos isnt able to decipher the facebook links. I had the same problem a couple days ago. I'm sure its cause facebook keeps changing it.
Roundman said he didnt really want his wifes page posted so since the clip dont work anyway, I'm gonna cut it.

The funny thing is my FB page doesn't give my the option to share the video via my laptop. My phone does give me the option but apparently doesn't work.

I did get the results of the shoot. I placed 26th out of 80 total shooters. Better than what I thought it was going to be.

26th out of 80 is very good!!  I was about 60th out of 80 my first time??  Following are a couple of IDPA videos from Ft. Hamar Rifle Club in Marietta, OH where I shoot.
