Title: Kayaked Crappies
Post by: Dave on January 22, 2017, 01:21:01 PM
Finally got out after some fresh fish.  Fished the deeper water of a local reservoir.
Mmmm!

Using the new Opinel (two thumbs up)

12" was the biggest (big for around here)

Zowie that looks good to eat, plus fun to catch a bunch like that.  I love crappie.  Am envious, especially the kayak fishing.

Heck yeah!!

I am stuck where I am and have no way to go fishing at the moment. With the weather in the high 60s it would be a great day to be on the water.

I have wanted to try out the openal folding fillet knife. I like the Openals I have had in the past and would see no reason that the fillet would not be just as good as the others

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess you didn't drill a hole in your kayak.
Sure look like they could be tasty but the name still kinda/sorta puts me off.

Their name is deceiving, Barry! And no holes in the kayak! - temps so far haven't been low enough to even make thin ice around here.  Got up close to 50 degrees and thought I'd take advantage.

Yes sir - have to thank you for that, Nasty!  It's a cool compact little knife.  It'll be perfect to bring along on an all day trip with an afternoon fishfry.

Thought I'd add one last pic!

Not quite as much as I had hoped as I like to bend the blade a little to feel the blade ticking flat against the bones (hate wasting meat).  Very similar to a 4" Rapala filet knife.
