Title: Moster Crappie
Post by: Dave on February 12, 2017, 08:55:11 AM
Dante and I went out for 1-1/2 hours yesterday and he managed to catch 4 crappies.
His first was an absolute beast - 15-1/4"
Weighed 1.8 lbs
The other three were so-so.

He caught it on a minnow, Slag.  And I agree, Jerry, it would've looked good on his wall - I'm glad it wasn't important to him (and that may be because he knew it wouldn't happen)

In the winter??

I'm not sure you'd call what we have here a "winter."  We got about 4" snow two days before and that's been the 'big' storm - haha.  Closed schools down the night before (it was supposed to be up to 8").  It's all gone already.  It was mid 40's the day we fished - not bad for Feb 12.  All our foul weather gets pushed right up to Nasty  :laf:

I really enjoy crappie fishing.  Here in WV we have a really good crappie lake, North Bend State Park lake that a friend of mine and I fish every spring.  Last spring we took my camper and his boat.  Stayed two nights and fished two days.  We caught over 100 crappies.  Biggest was 14 3/4 long.  My buddy takes his deep fryer and we filet the fish, soak them in milk, then bread them with Autry's Fish Fry breading, then drop them into the fryer.  Mmmm good!!
