Post by: Lighterknot on October 12, 2006, 08:16:50 PM
I know it ain't very big compared to some, but it is the biggest catfish I have ever caught.  Caught it on the Alabama river just outside of Montgomery...

What did you catch him on? We used to be able to catch them almost that size out of old Patoka river sloughs. Lot of fun fighting them in on light tackel

Big enough to get some nice fillets out of.
Much bigger and they get kinda river tasting.

Nice Fish  :yoyo:

I caught him on about a 5-6 inch live shad on the bottom(at least it was alive when I cast it out) using one of my baitcasting reels that I bass fish with...crazy thing was I didn't bring my net so I had my buddy hold the pole and I just very quickly and firmly grabbed his bottom jaw and lifted him up as quick as I could so he couldn't thrash my hand too bad...those suckers mouths are much harder than bass.

oh yeah I know...believe it or not, she was still alive in that picture.  Cats can stay alive a long time out of the water.

That is the perfect size cat like finsandfur said. Much bigger than that and they get a bad taste.  Nice Catch
