Would anyone be saltwater fishing?
I'd like to change things up a little from last years, which was more a tonnage tournament. But if anyone is saltwater fishing we'll have to concoct a little more sophisticated plan

Ok, well what I was thinking was going with a minimum length on different species to avoid a saltwater contestant from walking with it all, or from folks entering their whole minnow bucket.

Something like all panfish must be 6" or more
Bass all species must be 14 or more
Northern pike must be 32'' or more
Rough fish, carp, paddle, cat, bowfin, etc must be ...what??
Saltwater fish must be ...what?

Help me out here and we'll get this thing launched.

I like it Jim........cuz a few trips like my last one and I would be hard to beat.  :eyebrow:

I would say for the rough, cats, and carp, somethin like 20"

Saltwater, don't have a clue.

Set catagories like fresh water,  salt water,  game fish,  non game fish, best story, best photo that kind of stuff...
I hope I'm helping.

Well....we got to remember all types of fish. A good example is Brad will be showing off some 40" paddle fish here before too long :eyebrownod: ...in freshwater

I'm in. I thought the overall inches last year worked OK.  The minimum sizes sounds OK too. What would you do, count the inches above the size limit for that fish? Something like a 9" panfish would count for 3" above the minumim? And then go with the total inches above the size limits of all fish for the winner?

I was thinking we'd allow the whole length of the fish since a weight would be hard to go with over the internet. And any fish above the minimum size for that group would qualify.

What'r we gonna do here? tick tock

I'm taking the lack of response, as.... you guys disagreeing with my proposal. Not a problem seriously....but we'll need other options to look at then.

Sounds good to me. Set some size limits and lets go fishing. How long will the contest last?
Size limit for walleye? or different kinds of trout?

Something like all panfish must be 8" or more
Bass all species must be 14 or more
Northern pike must be 32'' or more
Rough fish, carp, paddle, cat, bowfin, etc must be 20" or more
Saltwater fish must be 36" or more.

I dunno, what do you guys think? a weekend?, 30 days?, 60 days?

I like the 30 day deal, gives everyone enough time to get out, and yet keeps it somewhat minimal.

The requirements would be real close to the ones last year posted here (http://www.finsandfur.net/forums/index.php?topic=2316.0), other then the dates.

How about 60 days. That gives enough time for most to get out. June 1 till July 31?
Walleye size? 15"?

i would like to give it a try, some one please tell me how to get to last years set up please. i fish salt and fresh. my salt is from jetties and the surf down in delaware; we have lots of pan fish thers also and i have yet to see a 36" flounder, also they have a slot limit on red drum. could we go a little like this on the salt water fish

pan fish (spot, croakers (hardheads),sea mullet (king fish)  at 10"
flounder at 22"
stripers (rock fish) at 30"
tau taug (blakc fish ) at 18"
tuna, shark and the others at 36"

even if the salt fishing stays the same i'm in. i just hope i dont have to post any pictures (dont have a printer or the know how); i would send pictures to someone else to post for me if there is a volenteer.

Well not quite sure of options but, maybe seperate the salt water and fresh water, and do just a fresh water contest since thats what most folks have access to.

And one day of red salmon fishing could put me in the lead for the next couple of years with over all length.  :innocentwhistle: Heck had a pike day two years ago where I probably landed 200 pike varying from 22" to 41".

Picture contest would be a nice option, ya know have the best hero pic and have the board vote on it. heck ya might do a size one with the fish and the ruler in the same pic but I'm not sure how ya would vary for the different fish. Ya know like a 52" king salmon. 30" rainbow, etc...................

Plenty of options I supose.

Sounds like fun but man I'm lazy when it comes to the camera.  :doh2:

Yeah Todd you could smoke us  all  :laf: but that's why we have to break it down. But I think photosa are going to have to be a must again

Works for me

The tournament is underway, topic is pinned. I'm going to lock this one down since the titles are too close to being the same in hopes that it drops down the list.
