Anyone got a reference they can look up and see how many quarts of Mercon a E4OD takes with a drained converter?
I can't find squat..........and to be frank, I'm sick of looking.

I've got 11 quarts in it so far and one side of the dip stick is dry, the other side shows over full  WTF!?

I will look at work but 14 quarts come to mind for some reason but I bet I am wrong

The reason the dipstick is wet on one side it touches the tube when your checking the level and the oil clings to the stick

I have to be careful here after talking with our counter person this morning who worked for a Ford dealership in parts and service for 10 years before she moved North from Tennessee she looked it up and said 14 quarts then she went on about a certain pan and converter and blah blah blah so it could be 15 quarts
I hope this helps

I've got er at 14 right now, added the last one tonight after driving home from work. Which seems to have her in the cross hatches finally.

I was over on F150.com forums last night, reading some transmission talk. Those guys have been ranting about the dipstick on this E4OD tranny since it came out. Claiming it to be the worst one ever to try and read. :rolleye:

Sorry I'm late but first things first in my life[you lost out to fishing with my boys].  If you are filling to sell then 8 litres will do the trick and if you want to keep it then fill it up so both sides of your kin are covered in oil to the full line :innocentwhistle:.
I say what I think not think what I say.

:nono: Barry. I just got this one. I'm gonna hang on to this one a while. And it's a hole lot cheaper to run then the other.

Nor-cal, that sounds crazy high unless it's an installed price. What size motor ya got and is it 4WD?

Your getting the shaft Nor-Cal. Ford put C6's in those which is a pretty common tranny and Autozone has the torque converter for $120.00

Heck I got a stall converter I bought for my 77 when I was decking out that motor, a TCI Saturday Night Special, that I never used and I'd give it to you if you wanted it.
