I bought one of these lights from huntsmart last year, great light but the replacement battery is a killer in price. My hunting partner and I bought a head lamp and some extra bulbs and built a set-up that will run on a universal 12volt 8amp battery. I hooked mine up to my LightForce battery and controller. Should work well for a back-up. Has anyone else made there own light system? What did you do?

How much does it weigh?
The biggest advantage with the LightForce lights is the fact that they weigh less then a pound.

It weighs less than a LightForce. It's a 5100 light head from HuntSmart. The biggest advantage is the cost of batteries, $16.50. We have wind gusts of over 30 tonight so we aren't out calling. I tried the light out and it works great with the LF battery and controller. Can't wait to try it out in the field.

Ohhh, I thought you meant a headlight as in an automotive headlight :laf: and I was gonna say that thing cannot be light to pack round even though it's not that heavy in reality, it's heavier then you want a light to be for your hand or gun, it's got to be cumbersome. :roflmao:

Sorry, that was my fault. I wasn't very specific on that. Hat light, head lamp etc.
