Any time a politician has to tell me over and over that something is common sense, I can be sure that it isn't.

That is pretty true.  But I would say that my US Congressman is an exception.  He is very conservative (votes and acts that way), loves to hunt and shoot whenever he can get the chance, and is my first cousin.     :biggrin:
