My boy was out of rolled grain for his 4H project so I went and got a truckload of the new Cowboy barley from a friend.  It weighs 54lb to the bushel and is a very nice looking and easy milling variety.  I thought being as there isn't much happening on here today [and I gotta watch the grey cup tomorrow] I'd show you our Mickey operation.
First we set everything up and as usual fixed a few things first.  Then Bob and one of his school buddy's Lance went to filling the hopper on the roller.






That little roller mill used to belong to a fellow who used it to make feed for his hounds[coyote].  After he passed his wife sold it to me for $90 and it has made feed for our flock for 14 years now.

I bought a really nice hydraulic driven auger for $60 but my buddy spied on to it and I found this in it's place 6 years ago.


The bin we built when we got the mill and it has served us well but I see it needs a mite of TLC too.


One hour and 37 minutes from turning it on we turned it off.


She ain't no Cadillac but she got the job done again and the kids get a feeling of accomplishment when they are done.  To me that is as important as anything else they can do.

i could use some of that therapy to Barry, need to fly up your way n do some hunting and fishing but i dont like the work part
