Title: Camp Visitor Today
Post by: MI VHNTR on May 03, 2020, 08:01:23 PM
A young bull moose shedding his winter coat has been hanging around the camp and hitting the salt block. I finally got him on camera today. Hopefully, he stays here and brings in more of his friends.

Was that a trail cam or was it close enough to get it with a camera or phone?

Hawks Feather, I took those pictures through the windshield of my truck with an iphone. I also got a video of it on the dash cam. I'm putting out the game cameras later this week, if it ever warms up. The picture below is a snapshot from the dash cam video. The wide angle lens of the dash cam makes the moose look farther away than he actually is.

JohnP, it looks to be a yearling or two year old bull. His antlers are just starting to show.

You are 100% correct on the moose’s looks. They are one strange looking animal. It’s just amazing to see them going through the woods. They are pretty quiet considering their size.

Thanks MI VHNTR.  I enjoy seeing 'animals in the wild' images and knowing how they were taken.  Looking forward to the trail cam pics.
