Title: primers for 22-250
Post by: Bob D on October 20, 2008, 09:20:15 PM
What size primers do I need for reloading? I was looking at CCI and it had several of the small caliber primers and I don't know which to pick?

Assuming that you are reloading a 22-250 then both answers are correct.  You need to look for Large Rifle.  CCI makes several that will work.

CCI Large Rifle #200
CCI Large Rifle Magnum #250
CCI Large Rifle BR2

While all three of these will work, I would probably use #200 for general reloading.  Their Bench Rest (BR) primers are not quite twice the price of the #200 and are good primers if you are going for small groups and have worked the brass and your gun to get the most out of it.

If you are reloading for .223 or a similar round they use the Small Rifle primer.  The best thing to do is check the listing in the reloading manual that you are using.  It will tell the primer size and also what primer they used for their tests.
