Title: black walnut
Post by: browning204 on November 11, 2008, 06:23:47 PM
I was talking to a guy who got some black walnut to burn and has a couple more acres of it. I told him that it could be worth some $$.

They make gun stocks and furniture out of it I guess.

Does this still hold true? Is black walnut still in demand for that stuff?

It sure is
Black walnut makes some damn nice looking calls too  :eyebrow:

If the logs will make a 1 x 6 inch board he could have a few $$$$ in logs standing around

The best way to find out is talk to your local sawmill,or call a timber buyer, but it should fall into the price range of wild cherry

When they measure a log it is diameter in inches x lenght in feet,or get a log ruler and it has the footage
already figured for you ,but it should fall in the 50 to 60 cents a foot

It has been a few years since I been around the logging industry and log prices are as predictable as oil prices
In the winter the prices normally go up

I hope this helps
