Were getting nailed hard. We've already had three schools shut down due to it.
And at our school,  my son says some of his class rooms there's 10 and 15 people missing.

I've had off and on stomach cramps for over a week, but it hasnt got me down yet. Everyone at work says they got the same thing going on. Feel like your gonna barf....then it goes away...only to come right back.

The neighbor's daughter has been out of school for two weeks bent over the toilet, and he missed four days of work with something.

I went to the "Global Disease Alert Map"  to find out how bad it is getting.  I found this:
"As of mid-July, reports are no longer available from official channels".

Apparently, only information sanctioned by the WH is authorized for distribution.  THEY will decide what we need to know.

We just keep practicing good health habits by washing our hands frequently & using sanitizer. I don't shake hands with anybody anymore either.

We got several guys out w/ it from work.
And that doesn't include those out w/ regular colds & flu. :puke:

My brother's two year old daughter just got over H1N1. It had her down and out for well over a week. Three trips to the hospital for some reason.
I hate to admit it, but I stayed away during the whole thing. I love that little girl, but I have kids too and I didn't want it.

I'm with Hamer on the "no contact" thing. At first folks thought I was being rude, but now most of them are doing it.

We had a two hour class on H1N1 the other day at work. Interestingly enough, most folks over the age of 65 are not getting this thing. Reason being, this same virus came through in the 50's - early 60's, so they are somewhat immune to it now. It surprised me just how many strains of flu exist.

H2N1
H3N1
H1N2
Etc.

The actual flu season doesn't even officially start until November, so almost all cases of flu the last few months have been H1N1, but the test for it is expensive and time consuming. That means the governments numbers aren't accurate.
Also, H1N1 is no more deadly than the common flu. About 36,000 people die yearly of the flu, which makes up roughly 1% of those that get it.
Roughly 1% of all those contracting H1N1 are dying from it, so the numbers are comparable.
In almost all cases those that die are dealing with some other issues as well like COPD or Asthma.

Take care of yourselves folks. Cough into your bent elbow, wash your hands frequently and don't touch each other. Best defense we have right now.

This class was given by our companies head of safety out of Chicago. He's a smart, no nonsense kind of guy and researches things quite well before giving us the info.

agree with you all, no hand shaking now period.  I wash my hand periodically due to my job but I'm doing it more at home now.   There's still roughly 100 children a day out of our grade school.  I dont think they all have it, but we're welll up over 20 confirmed grade school children cases.
I didnt get my children the vaccination, I dont trust the damn thing, plus we never got the regular flu vac ever and we've done good.   Vitamin C daily, and lots of washing !!!

HaMeR

I can't help but wonder how many of these cases are the result of getting the vaccination.

My kids already have the vaccine. My daughter has asthma and we weren't going to take any chances. I would hate to see what the H1N1 would do to a little girl with asthma. When I heard that Cathryn's daughter had the swine flu, it had me concerned. I felt bad for them but was thankful that she fought it off OK.

Being the school nurse, my wife has gone to quite a few classes and seminars on the swine flu. She feels that vaccinating kids is a must.

I had heard this the other day, but they had the age at 50.  Either way I am not too worried about getting it.  I am too mean to be laid to rest by the flu.

Our one year old grandson just recently recovered from it.

This you will not believe.  The county received its first shipment of vaccine last week.  The kids that have parents on our state welfare program were given priority over all others.
When they come for mine they better bring theirs

My daughter texted me at work today, (remember I'm divorced) and said they just closed her school due to the swine flu. She's 400 plus miles away.
