I usually post up about our local coyote contest but for reasons of my own I didnt sign up this year or promote it.

Anyhow, to sum it up, over the 3 day hunt there were 700 hunters signed up and ONLY 59 coyote taken with the majority of the kills made with dogs.   Didnt get the whole dog/vs. calling/ vs. standing

Not too good of odds for the area, whats that figure out to,  8 %  ?

Vic I'd say you were smart enough .  Being as I can only judge from my area, that would be way low for here but could be something else for there .  Interesting to me though as I've always thought everyone had what I did so it's part of my learning curve.
I say what I think not think what I say.

Yep!

Unless you figure that 700 hunters hunted for 3 days which would be 2100 hunters that took 59 coyotes then it would be around 2.8%.

Don't know if you can figure it that way or not so I'll go with your answer:  8%

Silencer I don't think you suck at hunting coyotes or anyone else in PA.

I haven't NEVER hunted there so this is only an observation based on people I talk to there.

As any person selling a video for the east will quickly tell you PA buys more then any other state VA second and GA third. Talking to several call vendors at the expo's they have told me PA is up in the top 5 in sales. PA has the largest contest hunts in the east. PA is fairly large on running of dogs to hunt coyotes and has a huge night hunting following.

All of this considered I would think there are more people chasing coyotes in PA than any other state in the east. I would think it would be hard to find a coyote in PA that hasn't been ran with a dog,Called or shot at during the day or night. I would assume most of the winners at these contest are usually the guys with the most secured land to hunt?

Not sure but I wouldnt doubt it, it's usually the guys with dogs that win and/or turn in the most for sure.
