Bills Custom Calls

What a way to start a Monday at 6:05 this morning Chris left for work I normally start leaving around 6:15 till I slowly work my way down the basement steps and fiddle fart around a bit
This morning I messed around a bit more and at 6:20 the phone rang How I hate phone calls that early in the morning Chris is calling to tell me the tie rod end broke on the Durango  :whew: she had turned off a state route and onto a County Rd when the steering had felt real funny and went to the right.A friend of ours was behind her and stopped to see if he could help and let her use his phone to call home. She was very lucky that she had slowed down and went about 300 ft when this happened if it would have happened a 1/4 mile up the road she could have went down over a 20 ft drop off.
But any way a piece of wire and a pair of pliers done a quick fix to get it back to the shop

Now mind you I had just drove this Durango over the weekend (so it is probably my fault)
and felt no shimmy, shake or pulling in anyway.I just put new tires on a couple months back and everything looked fine.

All is ok and nobody got hurt that is the main thing

If it's your fault, it must be because you thought the MIL was going to drive it that morning.  :innocentwhistle:

Glad to hear that no one was hurt.  Parts can be replaced, but people are much more difficult to replace.

You fellers wouldn't believe how many late 90's and early 2000's Ford and Chevy's we get in the shop that need tie rod ends and ball joints

What surprises me is NAPA wanted $57 and that was our discounted price  life time warranty no grease zert  for the tie rod end If I get through our warehouse I can get for $17 with a grease zert

I put a tie rod on the drivers side right after we bought the Durango and it was $20 Not sure what makes NAPA parts so much more expensive
