Jeepkid, Coyote Caller, and myself went for a short hunt this morning. Rain was moving in and we only had a couple hours before it would arrive.
We parked the cars and walked about 150 yards uphill thru the woods to the fields above. We crossed one field and was going to set up on a point where 2 fields came together. When we got to the point we walked right up on one coyote in the field. It got around the corner out of sight before we could shoot.
We set up with Coyote Caller watching one field and Jeepkid watching the other. And I sat higher up behind them watching the back door and playing my CS-24.
I did a couple howls then after a couple minutes started switching back and forth between Coyote & Fox fight and pup distress. About 10 minutes into it Jeepkid dropped the hammer on this male at 130 yards. Not sure if it was the same one we walked up on or not.
We made one more stand with no takers, then called it a day as it was fixin to rain.

Born and raised in the southern highlands of Appalachia, I'm just an ol' country boy who enjoys calling coyotes... nothing more, nothing less.

Thanks y'all, but Jeepkid shot it. All I did was call it in.

VV, The head was the right size. I think it's just the angle of the pic where he was holding it up. It looked like a 1 year old dog. About 30 lbs.
