new Thang fer me

misfire

Decided to broaden my horizons and try something new. These are the first two deer grunters I have ever made, my son laid claim to #1, which is a persimmon barrel and a bloodwood insert


This is #2, a redwood bur barrel and a figured maple insert

   I'm of the opinion that our fearless leader has got permission and persimmon :confused:.

   Good looking deer gatherer's right there.  What does a Persimmon tree look like :shrug:.

Barry, If you have never seen a Persimmon or ate one I will have another little project to introduce you to another first in your life. I will take pictures of some Persimmon Trees for you, The Persimmons when ripe are taste but when green will make you  :puke: BUT wildlife love them, Deer, Fox,Coyote, during hunting season around a Persimmon tree is the place to be. I killed two Fox last year one evening under a persimmon Tree and Missed another one. cc

I have turned some persimmon before it has been awhile ago and if I look I might have a piece in the shop
And it makes a great sounding call

They used to use Persimmon to make the heads of golf club drivers. -They still do I'd imagine.  A very dense wood, with a good impact resistance.
