In town (Fairbanks, Alaska) today they had the "Tired Iron" snow machine race, so Dian and I hauled the machines down and spent the day on the river watching.  Today were old machines with "young" men racing them, the rules stipulate the older the rider and machine the more lead time they get.  It was an inspiring day to say the least and this fifty year old felt like a kid watching these "kids"   Tomorrow are the radar runs and I hope to post more pictures.  I hope you enjoy these and they make some of you feel young again.

John

These two kids have been friends for 65 years, they are 90 and 92 years old. The gentleman on the right still flies his plane every week and chops his years supply of firewood by himself.  The set of mittens are kangaroo.

Ray is 89 and going strong

Later they had races for the up and comers

If Alaska causes one to live to be 90, I'll be moving there soon.   :laf:

Way cool Machines! My favorite is the Bolens Hus-ski! That would be the ride I would want if I lived in Snowville! :yoyo:

Once again, some great pictures John!  It's neat to see the photos of the old machines, not to mention the old riders.  :congrats:

Born and raised in the southern highlands of Appalachia, I'm just an ol' country boy who enjoys calling coyotes... nothing more, nothing less.

I can't imagine being 90 and doing that. It's pretty cool to see that going on.
