Mrs. Santa was good to me this year, she got me this beautiful custom made Tulle de Chasse .62 caliber (20 Gauge) smoothbore muzzleloader for a Christmas / 21st birthday Present. I can't wait to get it out to the range and sight it in. No plans to hunt deer with it until next season, but the turkeys better be extra cautious come spring. This gun was made historically accurate dating back to the early 1670's. Custom made by Ron Gueldner from Oregon.

Take your kids hunting and you won't have to hunt your kids!

Very nice!  I've hunted with a muzzle loader for years but have never fired a flint lock.   That gun looks the way muzzle loaders are supposed to look and I bet will be a hoot to shoot.   :congrats:

Good to hear from you Steve!! Congratulations on a fine shotgun for sure!! That is a real beauty & I'm sure the pics don't do it justice. I can't wait to see that big ol Tom laying next to it this Spring!! Good Luck for sure!!!!!!!!!!  :yoyo: :yoyo:

Yeah 21...or 40 whats the difference? Its a milestone either way :innocentwhistle: I just keep telling myself 21 and hope my body doesn't figure out I'm lying to it.  :eyebrownod: I don't think I'd go as far as a relic though Jim :holdon: Besides my actual birthday isn't for a few weeks yet, so I'm still holding 39.

I've never shot any muzzleloaders other than flintlocks. Though he does have a couple beautiful underhammer percussions for sale that were equally as tempting. I cant use anything but a flintlock in our late deer season, so I figured I'd get the best of both worlds and go with this fine piece.

The maiden hunt wont happen until spring turkey, but you can bet there will be pictures to follow.

Actually they were sent to Connecticut, Alabama, Wisconsin and some stayed here in Pennsylvania. Not at my place though, a couple hours east of me. I'm heading up to Olean this week to restock the wood supply if you're interested in going again.

I have a nice little collection of calls all set to hunt this spring. May even make another box call or two to take along.

Steve

HaMeR

I sure wouldn't mind going along again but I used up my wood money on some really nice Cherry for Diane.  :eyebrow:  These boards were $40 for 1x8x6'

Hey, those are pretty sharp! Who made 'em for you? Just kidding, beautiful work Glen, those will age nicely.

I'll probably be going back up in late January for a sport show and figured I might as well pick up some wood while I was in the neighborhood. I'll let ya know when if you're interested.

HaMeR

I'm still interested in going. And a sports show to top it off eh??  :eyebrow:

Were you able to squeeze a day or 3 of vacation in for the LBL this year??

Thanks for the compliments too. I really like Cherry. Especially after it ages for a couple years.  :yoyo: :yoyo:

Yep a sports show...I cant vouch for it being any good yet. They contacted me and asked me to be a vendor this year. Unfortunately, I don't have nearly enough calls made and no where near enough time to get enough done. I told them maybe next year. I figured I would at least go check it out and see if it might be worth my while. Here is a link with info...

I love cherry too...That is actually one of my favorite woods for strikers.

Anyway, let me know on the trip to Olean. Ya know I still have that big piece of olivewood from the last time you came up. I've been tempted, but haven't done anything with it yet.

Steve

Coulter

Oh yeah...LBL - Hmmm, that sure sounds like fun. I'm not sure what vacation and such looks like yet. Let me get back to you on that one.

HaMeR

I can't believe you haven't cut that Olivewood yet!!  :doh2:  You're gonna like it when you do.   I'll check your link out after while. We're getting ready to go get one of our Grandson's.  :yoyo: :yoyo:

Let me know on the LBL. Would be cool if you could make it.
