I got two of the old classic cabinet style wood burners very similar to the one in the picture.

Their not much more then a wood stove in a cabinet with a blower hookup.

I'm thinking about putting one of them in my dining room here and wondering what your thoughts were on the brick lined one verses the metal lined one.
I want to say the one with metal inserts would be cast but I'd have to double check.
I tried doing some research quick this morning but could find much.

Ive always heard that the brick is better at holding the heat when the fire gets low.

The one piece of info I found online said the same thing Dan, and on the flip side it said the cast iron puts out more heat. Well I should say it radiates more heat.

Yes, the brick holds more heat, but it's got a blower for radiating. Sounds like a wash to me.

I'm going with the cast. The firebox is in much better shape.
Picked up all my chimney lengths, support bracket, cleanout T, thimble, etc Saturday afternoon. Been planning how I want to do this since then.
I dont think I'm going to be able to knock this out on a week day. Not enough day light after work, and I want it up asap  :laf:
Trying to picture finishing the outside where the thimble comes through and contemplating moving the pipe away from the house enough to clear my 8" overhang has me scratching me head.
