Bleary eyed from a previous night of fox hunting  :laf: I was able to get up the next morning and hop up into a ladder stand on the edge of Dave's property.  The evening before I had seen a nice buck work his way through the thicket about 35 yards out.  I did not feel good about taking the shot as there was some light brush in the way. I tried bleating him in closer..But he either winded me, or had his mind on a real doe?
He ended up working his way up the field edge and out of sight.
The following morning I was in the same stand.  At first light I saw a nice buck about 200 yards out in the field.  He was obviously chasing a doe, as he just kept going out of sight.
Sitting there, the morning unfolded around me.  About a half hour later I noticed a slight movement out of the corner of my eye?  It looked like a white stick bobbing along the thick stuff at the field edge.  My binos showed it was an antler tip.  Seems this buck was working his way away from me.  I gave a doe bleat, followed by a couple of grunts.  As I looked toward the thicket I caught movement.  He had turned around and was headed my way.  I had some time to check out his rack as he made his way towards me.  He was definitely legal, but not spectacular...My mind racing, I weighed the decision to use my one and only buck tag for the year.  When he got to 20 yards, I "baaed" at him, stopping him in an opening.  I think the empty freezer back home (my previous doe did not put a dent in the freezer space. :laf:) finalized the decision...I placed the crosshairs right behind his shoulder and touched off the crossbow.  At the shot he wheeled around and ran 10 yards to the side.  All the while in view.  He stood there looking around, then suddenly toppled over.  My buck hunting for the year was over.  I attached my tag to a fine plump 6pt.  I do have a few doe tags to fill now, but the freezer and my family will be happy in the meantime.
Once again, "Thanks" to my good buddy Dave and his family, for inviting me down to his place.  I had a great time as always.

Congratulations on the buck.  Now all you have to do is process it up and start giving it out to the kids.

Geeeez, I'm surprised you had time to take to the fields. I thought you'd surely be busy yet quartering up the last one. :laf:
Ok...that wasnt funny was it. Dave told me to say it anyway.   :innocentwhistle:

Kudos on the six pointer, seriously  Well earned and certainly deserved :congrats:

Thanks guys!

Yeah Pat, I do love my crossbow. It has served me well the past years, along with several others.
Meantime, I got him all butchered up.  Got a tub full of meat that will be run through the grinder today.
I had a great time as always down at Dave's.  Did a few drives for him later that day.  He saw a nice buck (didn't get within range), and a non legal buck, along with some does.  The doe's slipped across the stream to the side of him before I could get down there and cut them off.  Oh well, they'll be there for another time.  I'm not too worried about Dave not getting a buck this year.  Gun season is just around the corner here in PA.
