About ready to head out the door for South Texas in search of the elusive "El Muy Grande".

I've received numerous reports that the South Texas rut is red hot, and the bucks are chasing hard and busting one another antlers pretty good! Oldest boy and I have been chomping at the bit in anticipation for the past two months.

You boys behave and play nice while I'm gone.

Good luck Fos.  We will all be expecting to see some picture of some 'keepers'.

Just got back, and I'm draggin' butt... think I've got the flu.

Saw a bit of chasing, but believe the big boys were already hold up in the thick brush with ladies as we didn't see many mature deer. A lot of 2.5 - 3.5 yo bucks.

We didn't get the elusive "El muy grande", but we didn't come home empty handed neither.

Going to rest up and then go back later in the week as Sunday ends our rifle season.

Way to go you guys!  That's a really nice buck your son tagged.  Hang in there FOs, you'll undoubtedly prevail filling a tag of your own.

I gave one a dirt nap last week Dave! Look in the Hunting Photo section towards the end of the "Pinche Venado's" thread. Used one of your grunters to seal the deal.

Those are nice whitetail bucks by my limited standards!   Great pics of a proud son.

HuntnCarve

Yes, I saw that buck.  I thought you Texas hunters were allowed two bucks per year?  Figured you were holding out for a monster. :laf:
