Not sure exactly what triggered it, but lately I am getting swamped with mailings to join various hunting / fire arm organizations...... free this, free that all for some small membership fee..... so what exactly is free

Stu, I'm getting the same thing. That includes catalogs that I've never requested.  I believe someone is selling our mailing addy's to advertisers looking for a "hunting" oriented demographic.  I'd also bet a 10-spot it's the NRA doing it.
