I thinks it's a great call to start with. Some folks use nothing but. I've used one before.

I have a couple of them in the collection and they make pretty good sounds.  Unfortunately, I have not taken any of them out hunting.  Now, as for that Uncle Jay guy that puts them out - well, what can be said?  Maybe I should say that he is a pretty good guy.  Right Jay?

Welcome to FnF.  We are glad to have you here.

I have a hand full, and I think they work well ,,,, I have had some trouble with them in extreme cold, they freeze up really fast, so if I choose to call with it I just carry 2 of them and not  around my neck :nono:  :nono:
there isn't many sounds you can do with the call

Oh shit!!!!!! Don't tell the call Gods that George!!!!!!!! Open reeds don't freeze!!!!  :innocentwhistle:

But all mine that I have used in cold weather did.

Hey new feller. I happen to like the TH call myself too, but don't use it much (Have a few other calls I use). When I use the TH I use my canine tooth to run it (I might be the odd man out here). Jay even tells some folks to turn it over and play it. (it works too)

Another call along those lines that would be good are also the tweety's that Rick puts out. (I like these calls too)

At any rate your not breaking the bank buying either one. Matter fact the TH in olive or red is usually around $6 I think.

Good Luck!

Ya might want to change the title of your thread too. Tal's Garden Model is a top secret project that the calling community is not aware of yet.  :innocentwhistle: He might geta  lil miffed if it leaks out.  :roflmao:

Jimmie in Ky

I know a couple of old boys that use this call almost exclusively, as a howler!! Turn it upside down and learn to use it  well. It's one of the few calls that can do it all. Jimmie

The Tally-Ho is a good call. The reed does have the habit of forgetting to return to it's original "straight line" shape after it has been used for awhile. Once you learn the little trick of carefully bowing the reed slightly upward now and then, you will have zero reed sticking problems. All open reed calls will freeze in really cold weather, but once you shove it back in your mouth, it quickly thaws out.

Uncle Jay

If your Ho is freezing up, It sounds to be more a personal problem than anything else.
Some people never learn how to properly handle their Ho.
Try reading "Women Are From Venus and Men Are From Mars".

Here's a listing of all the Ho's offered over the past few years:

Your Standard Ho's come in green or red.
2004 Blue Ho
2005 White Ho
2006 Yellow Ho
2007 Clear Ho
Promotional Ho
2008 Glo Ho
2009 Bourbon Ho

I've been fighting the urge to offer Black or Brown Ho's.

Cheers!   :laf:

predatorkiller1342 will probably never come back to FnF after the way we have hijacked his post.        But he did get first hand information from Uncle Jay.
