250Savage works during the week around the homestead doing household and lawn chores. At the end of the week he receives his “allowance” or pay.
$20 to be exact.

Today was his “payday,” as is every Saturday.

This morning however, he had a friend with him who had spent the night.
This friend of his doesn’t receive any “pay” nor “allowance” from his parents. Whether or not he performs chores around his home, I don't know...

After I handed my son 2 ten dollar-bills, I asked him to define Socialism.
He paused for a moment, rolled his eyes a bit and just said....”Dad?.”    (You know that tone tweeners and teenagers have.)

I took back 1 ten-dollar bill and gave it to his friend and said, “Here you go, this is for you.”

My son's eyes about bugged out his head and replied to my actions with, “ But Dad!!! That’s my money, I earned it.”

I stated, “Yes, I know, but he’s entitled to it. In fact, he can come back every week and get ½ your allowance.”

My boy says, “But dad, that's NOT fair. He didn’t work for it and didn't earn it, I worked for it.... that’s MY money.”

I said…”You now know in part, what Socialism is.”

I think I pissed my kid off, but I made him think.....

And yes, I gave him another $10 AND his friend got to keep the $10 I gave him.

Best $30 I've ever spent.

I know..... on reflection, some of you will think that although I may have taught 250Savage that socialism is bad, I may have inadvertently taught his friend that socialism is good....  :alscalls:

A discussion was had afterward, and hopefully both young lads walk away this morning with a valuable lesson and appropriate outlook.

It is good that you are trying to teach the boys something.  Most don't teach much of anything to their kids.

Back in my day, I mowed yards and hauled hay (at $.01 a bale) for my spending money.  I learned pretty quick it was much easier to spend it than to earn it.

Right on Fos :yoyo:.  Teaching the boys anything is worth sommething ;yes;.  I like the way you did it cause it made two think instead of just one so you kinda/sorta doubled your money .
I say what I think not think what I say.

Great way to teach the truth about what Socialism (or obamacare as it is currently called) really is.

That's great.  I'm glad your teaching him as he sure as heck ain't going to learn it in our public school system.
When they come for mine they better bring theirs

I guess you'll find out next Saturday if 250Savage's buddy shows up with his brothers and sisters!  :alscalls:
