Today was early muzzleloader deer season opener in Kaintuck.   So I decided to dust off the smoke pole (Thompson Center Scout 50 cal.) and see what was moving.

From 20 feet up in a tree and about 30 minutes after daylight, I saw a 6 point buck (probably 1 1/2 years old) about 40 yards out and watch pieces of him for a few seconds until he completely disappeared in the jungle.   About 30 minutes later, this little lady showed up at about 45 yards with two of her young'ns.

Here is a pic just before surgery.  The surgery was a success but the patient did not make it.    :nono:

And here is a pic of my hunting partner, Rubi (Honda Rubicon)............

The freezer is filling up faster than normal this year.   :laf:

Nice big doe ya got there Semp, congratulations.  How many deer are ya allowed to kill in KY?  Out here it's one per calender year, bucks only.  That is if your lucky enough to draw a tag.
When they come for mine they better bring theirs

Roundman

Good job Semp, looks like a nice size doe. I've yet to do any deer hunting. Maybe next weekend.

John -  I hunt Zone 1 in Kentucky.  We are allowed one antlered buck and unlimited does.  In Zones 2 through 4 the bag limit goes down.

Richard -  That's a Thompson Center Scout Carbine  50 cal.   I shoot a 350gr TC maxi-hunter bullet over 90gr of pyrodex .  I have had that gun for many years and its taken a lot of deer.
