Saturday Afternoon Hunt

[Bills Custom Calls]

We had a heat wave of 17 degrees a wind of 5 to 10 mph from the WNW and we walked to our first stand nose in the wind.We got set up  with our backs against an old highwall that put us facing the wrong way but we called it anyway.It produced nothing but a howle from far off in the east so I thought. after about 30 minutes and not seeing anything we broke stand and walked around the bottom of this highwall.As we got to the point that faces the south we found old coyote tracks.So we just kept walking nowwe turn and walk to the north and sure enough there is a fresh set of tracks we were made and he run off.this coyote come into us on top of the high wall spotted us and and was goneDarn the luck.We set up any ways with our backs to the highwall facing the wind .This land is pretty flat then drops off fast into a hollow that runs for about 2 miles after about 20 minutes of calling BUSTED again.He come right out of the start of the hollow stayed in the brush and was gone we kept calling and could not bring him in.

Dang Bill. Sounds like the stars were not aligned in your favor.  At least you had them coming in, which is a major accomplishment in at itself. Keep at it.

yep....change your sounds now that he knows what you got, find a different approach and preferably a different stand...and you'll get him

This is the first time i hunted with this guy and he had somedifferent kind of ecaller with about 5 different sounds and he would call consistantly but changed sounds like every 30 secondsand the second set when we were busted he was useing fawn in distress when we got busted I went straight into rabbit distress mouth call
