I think nowadays tree stands are the norm and obviously work...but I think still hunting is the real deal..keeps your senses on high alert...makes you a real predator  ...Bow hunting too..I stalked a flock of turkeys and popped a big fat Fall hen with my long bow when everyone told me you'll never get close enough for a shot..took the shot at about 10 yards standing in a clump of shoulder high scotch pine..amazing rush ...and speaking of old school tactics ditch that compound bow and try a re-curve or long bow...lil more practice but quick on the draw when your needing to shoot fast and sooooooo much simpler then pulleys n releases and sights and etc,etc...still hunting with a stick n string bow...that's  hunting
