I would be interested in knowing some info on the coyotes killed at LBL.

1.  What call sound used?  Mouth call or e-call?

2.  How soon coyote came in?

3.  Distance shot at?

4.  Rifle or shotgun?

5.  Open woods, thick stuff, field?

The one I got:

1.  pup distress  mouth call
2.  30 seconds
3.  10 yards
4.  rifle (AR .223) and Ol' Joe's shotgun
5.  open woods

Thanks!

Jim

You can't kill 'em from the recliner!!

Great idea Jim!!
Wish I could contribute. Lol

5 of the 7 I called in came to pup distress, the other 2, rabbit distress. All were there in 5 - 10 minutes. Wounded 2 with a shotgun without recovering. Semp killed 1. 1 winded us and left. Straycat and I watched 2 walk by without a shot. :innocentwhistle: Shot at 1 other but looks like I missed.

KySongDog

I called in 3.  Killed the first one with rabbit distress at 10 steps.  The second one was rabbit distress but got back doored so no shot.   The third one was rabbit distress then switched to a pup distress on an ecaller.  CCP killed that one with an AR at 25 yards.  All responded in 3 to 6 minutes.   The second coyote I shot was at 15 yards with Weedwalker doing the calling.   Both of mine were taken with a shotgun.

Only called one in, and killed.

1)  open reed distress.

2) It came in under 10 minutes... though this question may deceive a lot of new folks (IMO).   A lot of coyote's come in fast and hard and others hang up for some unknown reason.  The week before LBL I called one in and it hung up behind some trees.  I watched it walk back and forth for about 20 min's and that was after waiting 10 min's for a response at all.

3) 30-40 yard shot

4) AR in .223... (I was hunting with Doug,     I think there's a rule on that.)  :laf:

5) fairly open woods... 60-70 yard visibility (guessing).

Great thread Jim!  A lot of good info can be had here as long as we don't try to make "rules"... (as in "they always do this")
Yotehntr calls... put something pretty on your lips

riverboss

I called in 4 over the week and a Bobcat on wed morning with a catnip call the only shot i had was at 60 yrds with my ar but i forgot to chamber up a round and it ran off when it heard me snap the hammer and try to chamber a round :doh2:.

Fairly open woods. Yothuntr open reed distress call. 20yds. Marlin 357Mag. About the 7 minute mark if I had to guess. 3rd stand with a ton of yardage between stands. And a dumb coyote is all I can say about the whole deal.
