Well my third LBL is history now and I am already looking forward to the 2013 get together.

This year Fozzy and I had made the plans to get there about noon on Thursday but some over sites on my part left me leaving on Thursday a might later than I had planned and I wasnt gona travel in the fog we had here that morning if I didnt have to. BAD STUFF couldnt see 150 yards. Well any way after the fog lifted and I was on my way I met up with my cousin Fozzy a little after noon  and we transfered my gear into his truck and we were on our way. Not a bad day for traveling. Temps were in the high 60's under mostly clear skys. As we were crossing the bridge into the LBL we noticed that it seemed shorter than last year, must be due to the fact the bridge on the KY lake side being cut let the bridge on the east side pull the banks closer together. Least that was one thought. Any way we made Wranglers camp in good time but it was just at dark so there would be no hunting for us on Thursday. Just as we pulled into wranglers we had a deer cross right in front of us dang near hit it so we took that as a good sighn that the animals this year were just beggin to be harvested. Well we pulled up in front of the three cabins that served as a welcomoing station and said our hellos and shook the hands that we hadnt felt the grip of in right at a year. After saying hellos and admiring the fur that was laying by CCPs cabin we headed up to ole A25 wich would be our home away from home for the next few days. Getting our stuff packed away and sleeping gear set we walked back down to the welcome cabins and stood around and talked some smack down with the fellows that were there and introduced ourselves to people that were brand new to the LBL experience. As the night wore on and it got cooler ,cant say cold as it wernt cold at all this year, I stared getting tired so I retired for the night so I could get up rested and get myself legal and get to the serious business of laying the hurt to some KY coyotes.

Friday moring found Fozzy and I heading to the gas station just on the other side of the bridge for our permits and licenses and a couple soft drinks then back to camp to grab my rifle and Fozzys smoke pole. He wanted to hunt nastalgic this year so he was packin around his 54 Hawkin. Thats 11 pounds of fire breathing muzzle loader right there. After suiting up in our leafy suits and other assorted camo an hunting gear we hit the road to find a spot that looked like it might at least hold some fur. After a few stands and having no luck other than drawing some flies and mosiquitoes. yes flies and mosquitoes in Febuary, we Decided to take a break for lunch and we needed to get some groceries for the stew I was fixing for our bunk mates that night.  So we headed back to camp to stowe the firearms. Once back at camp we had to stop by some of the other cabins and see what fur they had brought in and by golly biscut and ole joe had fur a hanign in the tree. We talked with Fuzzyface and a couple others and the fact that I was making stew came up and fuzzy was heres a donation make a big batch so a bigger batch of stew was agreed apon as was this years flavor of cobbler.  We headed into Cadiz for the fixins and we had to hit up the Cadiz restaurant for there buffet. Got some good catfish and fried chicken on that buffet at a good price and there sweet tea is the bomb. After Lunch we hit the local food giant and gathered everything we need and headed back to camp. Back at camp it was getting later than expected and preping the stew was no small order. So Fozzy and I started a fire with the help of Miss Secruepro and her youngins packing some firewood for us and proceded to cutting up everythign. We were getting it on the fire right at dark when Pat AKA Coyote101 who was our other bunk mate, pulled up. His timing was perfect as everything was in the pot and all we had to do was stir and wait for it to cook. We sat around and talked for a bit then Fozzy and Pat went out to let the others know that the stew was ready. Just as they got back with a couple other people, sorry I cant remember the names of who showed up or in what order. The first pot came off the fire and I had never seen my stew dissapeare so quickly. I mean my gallon and half bean pot went POOF empty but that was ok we had a second pot a simmering. A few more poeple showed up and the second pot was set apon as well.  After the meal most everyone agreed that some corn bread would have went excently with the stew so next year I will have to bring a another pot so I can make corn bread. I wanted to make a cobbler but the fire wood was wet and wouldnt make the coals I needed to use my dutch oven properly so there was no cobbler on Friday night. After doing dishes and talking with the visitors that stopped by the cabin a shower and sack time was in order. I like the cabin that Pat picked out for the closness to the showers if for no other reason.

After a good night sleep we awoke to rain. OH NO RAIN. We sat and waited for the rain to pass which it actually did in short order. Before 10AM I belive.  Then we headed out to see what we could call in. Fozzy and I made a few stands and walked a creak bottom all the way down to the lake. We set up a stand there and I started up the ole foxpro with a goose in distress call and within a few seconds I could hear one a comming in hard and fast. Just as I cought a glimpse of the yote in my side vision it hit the trail that Fozzy and I had walked in on and it hit reverse so fast that if it had a manual transmission in it you could have heard the gears grind all the way to dover. Well we were busted so I thought try some other sounds and see if I could get another yote to come in. Looking at my Foxpro remote I noticed I had a call listed as KEN. I couldnt remember putting a KEN listing on my caller so I thought what the heck lets see what it is. I hit the putton and turned the call up slowley and I found out that KEN was short for chicken. I learned something that stand. If you play a bunch of chickens a cackaling you can get every owl in the area fired up. After spending a little more time on stand with nothing comming in except crows we headed back to camp to get a quick bit of lunch and replace the fire wood that Miss Securepro supplied us with.

Once back at camp Fozzy said he would get the wood and I wanted to make one more stand. So I walked out of Wranglers to see if I could get a reaction from any of the coyotes that we had heard the night before. After making a couple more stands and getting nothing for my toubles I walked back to camp and was just putting stuff in the truck as a misty rain settled in. OH well no rain gear and I wasnt really in the mood to be sitting in the rain like some fool predator hunter. so I just sat on the front porch and watched the world go by down the hill. Just then Pat came back and he hadnt scored either so we all headed down to CCP's cabin to see how the rest of the outdoorsmen had done.

Sitting around the porch at Richs and Eds place we talked about the fur that was brought in and the diffrent ways it was called till it was time for the door prizes. Once everyone got there pieces of playing cards the drawings started. Nice prizes were being given away and I hadnt had my number called yet. Pat held up the Yotehuntr call that wildwildwest donated and I told Fozzy I wanted one of his calls and no more had the words left my lips when Straycat called my number. My heart lept into my throat and I had a smile that made my ears hurt as I walked up to get it. A beautifulle oasge orange call. I like osage cause it changes collar over time. I sat back down and watch as other poeple won there door prizes and then when Fozzys donation came up his number was drawn. I had to laugh thought it was rather funny. So they put Fozzys number back into the box and kept drawing. Fozzy finally won a nice closed read call from BIlls custom call and on the second round of drawing he won a lanyard that I belive was donated by titans fan. Not sure on that so if I am wrong please forgive me. On the second round of drawing I also won a Schrade knife that was donated by Pat. I must say thank you to all those that donated. Your generosity is well appreciated.  After the drawings people retired to the porch and all the new calls were being tried out by all there new owners.

Sense it was the final night I wanted to make the cobbler that I had planned for. So as the festivites were winding down I headed back to the cabin to start the fire and get the dutch oven a going for the cobbler. The wet wood made for a lot longer making coals than I would have liked but Darrin, Pat and I had a good time talking and waiting for the cobbler to finish. It was a  little after midnight I belive when the cobbler came off the fire and we sat inside and had a late night snack of cherry/pineapple cobble. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM good eating right there.

Sunday morning came early and we cleaned up and packed everything away for the trip back to the Hoosier state. We said our good bye and stopped down at CCP's cabin to drop off the 357SIG rounds that Lineman steve had wanted. Lineman Steve had to Leave the LBL early due to his father was in very poor health so please keep him and his family in your paryers. After our Goodbyes to the Gentelmen at the welcoing cabins Fozzy and I headed for home.

In closing I can say these things with certanty. I didnt meet anyone there I didnt like. I learned a little about a lot of diffrent things. I saw more fire wood than I care to look at. Made a bunch of friends. Had a time of my life.

Hope you enjoyed this little trip to the LBL with me.

Well there will be cobbler next year that I can say with a fair amount of certanty. Most likley be peach cobbler sense Rich dont do cherrys. I will even be bringing the BIG dutch oven so I can make a lot of it. OR I may bring more than one so I can make a peach cobbler for Rich and another kind for eveyone else. Pat and Fozzzy seemed to like the cherry/pineapple this year. Someone on Sunday morning stopped by to borrow the broom and I gave them a sample but I cant remember who it was.  If the weather cooperates I may have PawPaw cobbler next year just have to see how they produce this fall.
