I saw this on another site.   It tells the story of the wolf release program in Yellowstone from the local rancher perspective.  The wolves are expanding far from Yellowstone although the DNR's won't admit it.

The movie is about an hour long so get a drink and a snack.   Worth watching.

Although the DNR's wont admit it.
Isnt that the truth! I've never been able to figure out why they deny it, and if they really think people are stupid enough to believe that a released wolf will stay put. :alscalls: :doh2:

Its a good film. We have the same thing brewing in WI.The northern deer herd is taking a hit, but DNR blames poor weather conditions for lack of hunter success, this year the up'd the doe tags in those areas considerably,IMO to up'd the harvest total so it looks like deer populations are on the rise. But if you look at the county by county statisics for those counties you will see that the doe harvest was way up, but thats due to more tags and most hunters are gonna try to fill them, but when you look at buck totals most everyone the harvest dropped considerably, DNRs excuse or propaganda is more hunters are passing on bucks to let them grow, which some are but not to that extent. Just ask hunters in those areas, some never seen a deer the whole 9 days, but they seen wolves everyday. It's not a good situation for our deer or the balance of the eco-system. If the wolves are to stay, they need an aggressive campaign to get the numbers back down to the 300 mark they originally proposed. The current proposal is to havest 150 wolves this coming fall, that wont even put a dent in the population because the pups that will be born the following spring will cover what was harvested and then some. Wolves have been know to double their population with pups each year.

I think the movie was right on point with "it was never about the wolves".   There is another agenda at work and it looks like the tree huggers are winning this one.

Have not watched the movie yet, but I live in West Yellowstone Mt. I can throw a rock from my 5th wheel and it will land in the park. The state allowed a wolf season this year, if you shot a wolf you were susposed to call it in, and tell what area you shot it in, and get it validated within 10 days. If the quota was full hunting was over for that area. I called the 1 800 number every morning to see if the quota was filled. Durning elk season I called and  our area was full. About 3 weeks later called again and the area was open  seems some people were calling in and saying they shot a wolf, but really had not. I had only seen 1 durning that 3 week period when I thought it was closed, so I did not shoot, 200 yds+ broadside. Maybe next year.

Semp, I think so too, its not about the wolves. And Nor-Cal yote, I heard some of the wolfaboos were calling in like you said so the quota appeared full to shut it down. This wolf issue has brought a lot of nutjobs out of the woodwork.

Here is a link to a site that is trying to do something about the problem:

That was a good movie.  Really burns you up with what is going on out there.  I think the LBL should relocate to out there next year and scramble a few eggs.

I think this is an awesome idea, but I don't think it would work. Too many miles between most of the board members and Yellowstone park. Maybe someday there could be a second hunt for wolves in the area?  :wo: The nonresident wolf licence is $350 over the counter. Nonresident coyote/prairie dog/rabbit/skunk/badger/fox/coon is $10 over the counter. Doesn't seem fair..... :doh2:
sometimes I wonder....is that getting closer..... then it hits me

I had a personal conflict the other day, now I'm not speaking to myself.... I'm getting lonesome

I met the girl of my dreams, I was the man of her dreams too.....she used the term "nightmares" though.
