Jason (jdbp) and I went to check out a new hunting property today. We got a late start because of some job related things I had to take care of first. It was around 10am when we got there.
The wind was blowing straight at us down the hollar. There was a huge ridge on both sides. We should have went up higher on one of the ridges, but didn't feel much like climbing one of those big a$$ hills today. There were grass fields down the middle with hollars going off to each side. Every time we saw one we'd like to call the wind would blow straight up into it. So we passed on those. When we got towards the back edge of the property things lined up better and we made a stand there.
I started out with pup distress on the green Lil-Dog for a few minutes. Then switched to rabbit distress on one of Brads calls. I heard a twig snap over the hill and knew something was coming. The coyote pops her head up over a limb 30 yards out in front of me and I shoot. I don't think I hit her. Then she was running down into the creek bottom and back up the other side in front of Jason. He put 3 loads of BBs in her to finally get her down.
She was a big 3 legged female. Her right front leg was gone and healed over. She could still run good though.
