For those TENNESSEE residents thinking about getting their CCW permit, otherwise known as a concealed hand gun carry permit, the time is now.

Why?  As of April this year the state has mandated several procedure changes it will soon become even harder to get into the classes and pass the course.
How do I know this, you ask?  As of today I took and passed the 8 hour CCW course to lawfully carry a concealed hand gun in Tennessee. :thumb2:

If you are pondering... do it quickly. This was one of the many items the instructors stressed upon. Another note of interest:  Do not let your current permit expire or you will be required to take the complete CCW course again and re-apply for the permit.  :doh2:

Congrats on passing. Like there was a doubt.  :laf:

What was changed?

Thanks Jim

Roundman,

The instructor did not go into great detail about all the new changes but he was quite animate on the subject. Two items he stressed upon were:  It will become even harder to enroll in the course itself. Instead of signing up for the class over the phone or in person it can only be done on line via computer through the state plus the silhouette targets they use now will shrink to a much smaller (by at least 75%) sized target, with only shots in the 7 ring (or smaller) counting towards a passing score. Unlike as now anywhere in the black counts. This is being done because as of April the instructors will be required to keep your target on file for ? amount of years along with your test score sheet.  I got to keep my test target.

I missed one question (DUH!!! :rolleye: ) on the written test but shot a 100% (all 50 shots in the X ring) during handgun qualification.
I reckon all my years of Barney Fife training finally paid off. :eyebrow: :alscalls:
