Dear Friends and Fellow Hunters,

Disabled Sportsmen of America, a nonprofit 501 c 3 organization, dedicated to helping disabled and terminally ill people get out and hunt needs your help. We will be developing a parcel of land so that these people have a place with easy access to hunt. By making trails accessible only by ATV, planting food plots, and building wheelchair accessible shooting blinds we hope to make this dream a reality.

We have several objectives with this program. The first is to provide a place for the disabled and terminally ill people to hunt. The second is to provide premium habitat for wildlife such as deer and turkey through the planting of food plots and the enhancement of natural browse. The third objective is to manage the wildlife population. By establishing and maintaining harvest limits we will be stewards of the land and promote a balanced deer and turkey population.

We are asking you as established members in the hunting community to help us make this program come to life and become a success. The entire program will cost $1200 annually and an additional $1500 is needed as start up money for this program. The start up funds will be used to purchase seed and fertilizer for food plots, lumber for several wheelchair accessible shooting houses, and other equipment that is needed. The annual money will be used to renew the lease on this property every year. The volunteers at Disabled Sportsmen of America will do all of the work needed on this property with the aid of professional consultants in wildlife management.

By donating money, products, or items that we can auction off at our events, we can offer you tax a deductible receipt as well as the recognition of you or your companies for making this program a success. In addition we will be holding turkey shoots, 2 fishing tournaments and an archery tournament to help with raising funds for which we need prizes and auction items.  We look forward to hearing from you and thank you in advance for your kind consideration.

Sincerely,
Jackie M. Thomas Jr.

OK guys a little about what we do! We take people who aren't able to get in the woods by there self, due to disability or a terminal illness, and put them in the woods where they harvest trophies like these!
Sorry for the size of these pics, they were sized down to put on our web page. The page should be back up soon. We are switching from a .net domain to a .org domain.

Disabled Sportsmen of America is funded 100% by donations and fundraisers! NONE of the DSA prostaff gets paid anything for thier services! it 100% volunteer!
Every dime goes into the program to either purchase special eguipment needed, food, lodging and travel for the hunters!

That is why we need help!
Without donations of stuff for fundraisers or money to purchase items, we cannot operate.

Jackie,

Thank you for the great pic's and information about the DSA.  As the old saying goes... a picture is worth a thousand words!

Hopefully not only will the DSA reach these goals quickly but exceed them as well.

I have to agree with coyotehunter in that the pictures do help and also the additional information.  Hopefully you will be interested in some donated calls.

UPDATE:
For those interested, the DSA website is now up and running.

Here's a copy of the email I received from Todd Smelser:

Greetings,

As some of you may have noticed our website has been down.  The reason is because we wanted to change it from a .net address to a .org.  DSA has also gone through some growth spurts in the last year.  We are taking DSA to the next level.  We have the new website up and have added a forum, so please take the time to register, the more registered members, the better the chances of gaining sponsors which in turn means more opportunities for outdoor.  There are many more things that will be added shortly to the website as we are working diligently on it everyday.  Please check out our website at www.disabledsportsmenofamerica.org and feel free to send us pics of your harvests and catches.  We would love to post your pics.

DSA and its staff is currently working on our biggest program to date. We hope to be announcing this program by the end of the summer.

From the staff at DSA (Todd, Shauni, Jackie, Melissa, Katie, Greg, Patrick, and Bryan) we want to say a big thank to all of our supporters.
