DDCalls

Gents

Here is a prototype that I am working on.  This is NOT a finished call or what the final result will look like, but its a start.  What I am looking for is feedback on whether I should drive on with this idea or scrap it and go back to the drawing board.  What we have is a true 3-in-1 call.  It is a howler open reed with 2 removable inserts that are voiced different.  It is easy to blow and none of the inserts get in the way when working the call.

What do you think?

I'm digging the concept, but not the looks. Do ya have something to put next to it for size comparison?

If Todd is giving advice ya just might want to listen up.

I absolutely agree that the current look is "FUGLY"!  I just threw something together to test the concept and ensure that each insert would tune well and not interfere with the others.  The concept appears to work well.  I was just seeing if the concept would be well received.  The call is 5.5" long (including tone board) and 2" wide (excluding inserts).

Looks like a fire hydrant  :laf:
But I think your on to something David. I like the idea.

One question, what happens with the other two reeds while your blowing on the third? Do they plug?....or do all three sound off at ounce?

I designed the inner dimensions so that they wouldn't effect each other.  The angle of the inserts allows the air to "pass" each other without blow back into the other reed sets.

Yeah I made 2 of them.  One with removable inserts (pictured) and one with semi-permanant reeds in the call body.  I will pst pics of that here shortly.  Waiting for the finish to dry.

Forget the Wesley Pipes comparison.  Here is the real inspiration.

Maybe some evergreen camo dymondwood/colorwood, or the green bois d' arc?  ~KT
